The exhibition features two artworks: the VR experience “Atmospheric Forest” (2020) and the immersive visualization “Deep Sensing. RT-32 Revisited” (2002 / 2022).

“Atmospheric Forest” is a VR artwork that visualizes the complex relations between the Swiss Pfyn forest, climate change, and the atmosphere. It’s the outcome of a three-year artistic research project on the Pfynwald, an ancient Swiss Alpine coniferous forest suffering from drought due to climate change. “Deep Sensing” is an immersive visualization on the artists’ return to the Irbene radio telescope, where they hosted the legendary radio astronomy and sound art symposium "RT-32. Acoustic Space Laboratory" 20 years ago (2001). The work explores the evolving role of this isolated, once-secret communication facility in light of today’s pressing socio-ecological issues.

On March 16th from 6-8 PM, Onassis ONX will present a talk and reception for the exhibition. Artists Rasa Smite & Raitis Smits will discuss Atmospheric Forest, and then hold a conversation on data visualization and climate change with experts in the field. A reception will be held afterwards.
