Gaby Darbyshire
After early career stints as a barrister and management consultant in London and Europe, Gaby Darbyshire moved to the US and became a serial entrepreneur, in Silicon Valley, New York and now Los Angeles - along the way founding a charity for death row inmates in the Commonwealth, a global wine company, and a local recommendation site. She was one of the founders of Gawker Media, where she was the COO for a decade, succeeding in driving growth and profitability through the 2008-2009 recession, and subsequently ran Framestore Ventures, the venture arm of Framestore Ltd the award winning UK technology firm, where her focus was on investing in and developing pioneering new technologies and intellectual property across all media platforms from TV to console and online gaming, VR and Mixed Reality applications, location-based entertainment, and internet and mobile phone applications. She currently runs an AR studio, is a partner in a venture firm, and holds board positions with Global Witness, GOOD/Upworthy and The Daily Dot, as well as advisory board roles at several other start ups.
